John Wick: Chapter 5 – Is the Journey Really Over?
After the massive success of John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the next installment in the action-packed franchise. However, John Wick: Chapter 5 has yet to receive an official release date, though Lionsgate has confirmed that the film is in development.
Initially, the studio planned to film Chapters 4 and 5 back-to-back, but director Chad Stahelski and lead actor Keanu Reeves decided to focus on each installment individually to maintain high-quality storytelling. As a result, audiences may have to wait a bit longer before seeing John Wick return to the big screen.
Meanwhile, the John Wick universe continues to expand with two major spin-offs. Ballerina, a film starring Ana de Armas, is set to release in June 2025 and will explore the story of a ballerina-assassin in the John Wick world. Additionally, The Continental, a prequel series focusing on the origins of the infamous assassin hotel, was released in 2023.
The big question remains: Will John Wick truly return? Chapter 4 ended with an ambiguous conclusion regarding the character’s fate, and Keanu Reeves has stated that he would only return if the story is compelling enough. This uncertainty makes John Wick: Chapter 5 even more mysterious.
